Coming to the second point: Agreed that Valanchery has a turbulent history of formation. But Sanjeev I belive perhaps you would admit Valanchery is not 'handcuffed to history" and fixed in a past. The dynamic nature of migration, changing patterns in demography, return of the migrant perhaps encourgaing new cultural interactions- how would you account for that with distinct tastes and percpetions?
Is Sanjeev situating Valanchery in a speific period in history with no movements in any directions possible in time? That apart, I also like to know from sanjeev does not an individual subject has a right to protest in whatsover manner he/she likes to. May be its in the form of grievance or perhaps rising slogans? Here the personal is referred to as individual subject. I read through the thread once again. I may have missed soemthing. yes, there is a problem in the presentation of subid's individuated grievance intended as a submission to a State agency. Also a problem as he equated the banks with vehicle horns etc. But sanjeev, did you repsond in anyway to those issues in the first mail (which is the third mail in the thread. Instead your poser was to the subsequent mail. I will not comment on that bcoz you will come with that big stick by name "patronizing".) No doubt that Subid's resposne later in terms of "impotency" is despicable. Subid, if you are 'listener' as mentioned by you only in one of the previous mail in another thread you owe an explanation since this is a comment with high "potency" damodar damodar On 7/10/08, S sanjeev <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > DAMODAR PRASAD WRITES : After reading the thread of this discussion, I > found the points raised by Satchi mash was sunk by a parochialistic > understading of religion in public space...I found Satchi Mash was enabling > a different pursuit of understanding, which was submerged in the > amplification of an altogether different concerns. > > Why this patronizing tone damodar prasad? > > > Secondly, Sudeep has clearly identified the location in his first posting, > i.e, Valanchery and it's a mail highlighting a personal issue. > > > Valanchery is in Malapuram dictrict which has it's own turbulent history of > formation, and i dont think the matter of one's location and socio-cultural > negotiations with it could be simply termed "personal". > > this is what subid says in his last mail : "If one doesn't react, all will > become deaf.
