MMukandan has written a few narratives considered to be pro-dalit. One of
which is "Pulaya Pattu" . Plot and construction of the novel is modelled on
the idea of 'civilizing" mission. To the core it is anti-dalit. More than
the dalit assertions mukundan writes on missioanries and communist movement
of Malabar and the new political assertions of dalit is completely evaded.
The novel refelcts more of Mukundan's lack of understading of dalit poltics
than anything else

The popular lore in Malabar of "puli maranja thondachan" is misconstrued to
suit his 'civilizing" narrative.

So no wonder in Mukundan speaking against new campaigns of dalit movement.
