Philisophy Football and 21st Century Socialism magazine invite you to join
us for three special seasonal events.

First up, *Happy Honecker!*

Celebrate the life and times of the man who played such a major role in the
building of the "Anti-Fascist protective rampart" and who guided the
peace-loving German people in the creation of an anti-fascist workers'
state. Drink some schnapps, eat some wurst and even try out your driving
skills in our new Philosphy Football-branded hybrid-Trabant.

Then on December 24 it is time to buff up the black leather trench coats for
our special *Ceaucescumas Eve *party. Murdered on December 25 by an
opportunistic clique of traitors, who carried out a coup to restore
capitalist social and economic relations in Romania, Ceaucescu was
nonetheless a symbol of the stubborn refusal to follow the dictats of
neo-liberalism and the market. Free entry to those waiting in line in long
raincoats and wearing berets.

And finally, CHElebrate in London on 2nd
January<http://21stcenturysocialism.com/article/chelebrate_in_london_on_2nd_january_01795.html>

The true revolutionary is motivated by feelings of great love' wrote Che
Guevara. He gave his life for the cause in Bolivia, helped build Cuba's
economy and welfare system, travelled to Africa to contribute to the
liberation struggle there and did all this having rejected a privileged
upbringing and good career prospects in his native Argentina. Can all this
be adequately summed up on a T-shirt? Of course not, but Che's idealism,
Cuba's survival are ever present however they are worn or depicted. It is
the task of politics to make the connections, to turn that faraway ideal of
sunny socialismo into something burning bright amongst the grey, drab
managerialism of party politics we have to endure when we come out of that
cinema.

Liberty, if it means anything, is the right to tell people what they don't
want to hear.
