NO NATION SPARED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PEOPLE OF GAZA What options does the world community have remaining, now that UN relief workers have been shot at, some reportedly killed and injured by Israel, causing suspension of the UN relief effort ? Hospitals in Gaza are expected to run out of fuel for electrical generators at any moment, within a day or two at most. Electricity is expected to be unavailable. Generators, distribution and transmission, either destroyed completely or damaged and inoperable. There is no heat. Temperatures are cold. Sewage pumps are inoperable or destroyed. The city is becoming saturated with its own human waste. Disease can be expected to soon be epidemic among the population. Water treatment and pumping is destroyed or inoperable. Safe drinking water does not exist. Fuel for boiling water is likely unavailable. Food is in short supply with no means to prepare it properly if at all. Differentiation of non penetrative trauma, disease organism induced illness, shock, hypothermia, mal nutrition, dehydration, cardiovascular symptoms induced by terror, exhaustion, and chemically induced sickness, is impossible. Most potential victims are NOT being seen by doctors. Only some of the injured, obviously in need of immediate surgery, are likely to be seen. Many internal injuries and other forms of serious illness and trauma are likely receiving no treatment whatsoever. The toll in that regard may already be reaching 10,000 or more people in need of relatively immediate medical assistance. Many more in danger of becoming in similar need. We might look on those as second level triage. If we consider the history of Gaza, and the legal circumstances that Gaza is actually in, we find that not only is Israel legally responsible for the welfare and safety of the people of Gaza, under international convention, but it has continually provoked reaction from those same people. Without that continued provocation the strong arm regime of Hamas would not likely have gained any real power. Sociological and psychological science, without recourse to religious or ethnic prejudices, can fully explain Gaza and Israel. We need look no further. The end result is what we see now. One million four hundred and seventy five thousand victims of two rival gangs, the alleged 25000 men at arms of Hamas and the Israeli army. Neither Hamas nor Israel has legal right to attack civilians. Neither is legitimized by international law. Both Hamas, for their rocket attacks on Israel, and the Israeli government and army command need to be apprehended and tried for crimes, including war crimes. The history, and the events currently unfolding, need to be heard by an international court. History needs to know what happened, and why, and who was responsible for it happening. One million four hundred and seventy five thousand people cannot simply be left to become victims and then their victimization ignored. The dead and wounded are not the only ones crying for international justice, but so are those who's lives are forever changed and ruined, traumatized, beyond anything that most who have never endured anything similar can even begin to comprehend. In order to assure future world peace the only solutions that remain are: 1). Immediate, non negotiable, cessation of all military action. 2). International enforcement of that immediate cessation of combat. 3). Immediate evacuation of thousands of seriously injured, and ill from Gaza where it is impossible to establish adequate care in any reasonable period of time and where it will be difficult to fully maintain peace until those responsible for the violence are dealt with. 4). Arrest and trial of both Hamas and Israeli leaders and commanders, under international warrant and law, inclusive of trial for war crimes in Gaza. 5) Immediate mobilization of an international relief effort inclusive of army corps of engineers from nations neutral to the combat occurring in Gaza. Anything less is a brutal inhumanity. Anything less simply contributes to the immanent potential for what will eventually be the seed that will grow, in time, into a world war. That danger is becoming more real, with every passing minute of continued deaths, woundings, sufferings, and destruction in Gaza. At this time the matter concerns every nation in the world equally. It is the world community's problem to resolve. No nation is spared responsibility for Gaza.
