Sorry for a late comment here; with the advantage of listening to others' views here, I like to add: Every old/young man/woman sitting as editor/publisher/staff reporter/ scribe/ 'Swa.Le' of a left/right/centrist newspaper probably deserves pink chaddi in Kerala. Every act of moralistic high- handedness here, perhaps is neatly executed by a regime of Media-Police-"People"-Politics, prioritized on the basis of some CMP (Common Minimum Programme) on moral policing. Hence, there is near total consensus.Besides, this agenda of CMP is very often expressed in frequent unlawful cracking down on sex workers, driving away people with 'different' sexual orientation , extra care and free tips extended by the police in helping out 'decent' family people from 'bad' to 'good' spaces as they happen to land in an unfamiliar place after sunset. (On the contrary, if you fail to prove your credentials of "familiness"get ready for nightmarish things happening to you) How else could it happen that none had questioned the beating andchasing of the youths by the police? Why didn't a thought occur, of making a formal complaint against the policemen who had violated someone's right to sit with some? How else Mathrubhumi could report the incident with a caption that compliments the police for having done the right thing, ( having remedied the ill by giving chooralkkashayam to the sinners?)
