Subject: [fsug-tvm] Suggestion for Software Freedom Day

What about the official launch of a computer lab running on Free
Software for children with special needs (like Autism, learning
disabilities, physical handicap etc.)?

Insight <insight.kerala.gov.in> is planning such a lab in TVM and if
interested, volunteers can get associated with setting it up and we
can have the official launch on SFD.

It'll be a small lab - 3 systems and some gaming equipments to start
with. The hardware and the room for the proposed lab is ready.

Role of fsug-tvm/volunteers:

1) Identify games and activities (like Gcompris, Scratch etc) for
children with special needs
2) Test if these games would work with a joystick or a gamepad and do
some configuration if necessary,
3) Help in setting up the lab (design ideas/ layout etc).

I assure you that the role of fsug-tvm and the volunteers will be
highlighted in all related documentation. If you are interested you
can come to the Insight centre (A-27/1, Elankom Gardens,
Vellayambalam) so that we can discuss about this.
