Dahal visits Koirala in Singapore hospital, discusses possible solution to current deadlockTuesday, 17 November 2009 17:26 Even though undergoing treatment at a Singapore hospital for serious respiratory illness, Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala agreed for a 'meeting' with Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday to confer, as according to reports, on outstanding political issues. Dahal reached Gleneagles Hospital and Research Center located at Napier road at 2 pm today and tried to learn about the health condition of Koirala. The two leaders, who share a very good personal rapport despite great political differences, discussed formation of a Maoist-included High Level Political Mechanism to end the prevailing deadlock, reports said. During the meeting, Dahal is also learnt to have assured Koirala that his party will opt for a middle path to forge consensus with other parties and end the impasse. Initiatives for the said political mechanism will, however, be taken after the octogenarian NC leaders returns Nepal following his treatment in Singapore, it is said. Dahal suddenly dashed off to the tiny South-East Asian nation on Monday with his party's foreign department chief Krishna Bahadur Mahara on what was called a solely 'party mission'. Before leaving, Dahal had said he is going to Singapore to attend a function organized by the party's supporters in the country, but didn't rule out the possibility of meeting Koirala also. Meanwhile, Koirala is likely to return to the country coming Sunday after finishing his treatment at the hospital. His daughter Sujata Koirala, who also holds the portfolio of foreign minister, was quoted as saying that there has been marked improvement in the health condition of the NC President. She said her father will probably get a disharge on Sunday and will return home the same day. Sujata had also flown to Singapore along with Koirala's nepher Dr Shekhar Koirala on Saturday to look at the treatment procedures for her ailing father. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
