What could be the right/approximately right/fairly thinkable answer? Perhaps the answer is there in the question itself! Both did the crime of antagonizing 'Hindutwa', though in different ways. But, let us try to make it out:- 1. Dalits of Varkkala were not just *dalits* ,but were mostly un- *patronized *by political parties and the so called civil society groups.* * 2. Whereas Soofia Madani is neither just a Muslim nor just a Muslim Woman- She is a leader of an important political party that has still the potential to be a ruling partner( in spite of all the hard efforts in ostracizing Madani by all, except the powerful Pinarayi group). In my view, condition 1 is in no ways comparable to condition 2, except that in both situations the script is written by the Hidutwa forces to be played out by all the political players. This is why I have no embarrassment in finding less supporters in the former case. Actually, condition 2 has more implications for an urgent anti-fascist alliance, which alone would guaruntee peoples' victory by exposing the dirty games of a fascist media-police-politician nexus that work both on an ALL INDIA BASIS and on a LONG TERM PERSPECTIVE. By saying this, I don't want to belittle the human rights questions,( and more importantly the class and caste questions )there in condition 1.
