The current environmental crisis and the
continuing exploitation of nature is a result of many misconceptions about
nature and its character .Design theory of nature has proved to be false mainly
after the introduction of Darwin’s theory of evolution . But still we carry the
assumption that this nature is created or designed for us by somebody and this
mistaken belief make us the destructors of  environment . Another misconception
is that we should look after the environment because it has some intrinsic
worth . The worthiness of environment is not a property of environment but
something which man has added to it in the path of civilization . As per
Darwin,  living creatures are adapted to their environment , not that their
environment was made to be suitable to them. Destruction of the environment has
some links to religious dogmas and belief systems  also which people  used
to take command over nature . Also we have the false idea that there are some
laws of nature which influences or guides the life in this planet and we should
be obliged to those laws . But we forget that these laws of nature were mere
knowledge which needs to be seen as knowledge and truth of present times and
errors of the future . For example , Newton’s laws were considered to be
universal laws at one point of time but which proved to be erroneous after the
much complicated view of universe by Einstein . Fact is that there is only one
law which leads this world , and that is "cause and effect" . We seek out the
principles and dogmas that are in keeping with our temperament, so that in the
end it looks as if the principles and dogmas had created our character , given
it stability and certainty , while precisely the opposite has occurred. Planned
obsolescence also becomes somewhat suspect in an age of environmental concerns
.It encourages us to buy
novelties and throw out old ones that did perfectly well. Planned obsolesce is
a subtle feature of technology itself. It force us to create more waste and
environmental  hazards than we can think of.

                                                            Nature was not
created by somebody for inhabitance of human beings but it is neutral in
character. Here comes the importance of understanding and conquering it
intelligently and to transform it to a place worth living  in. Learning for the
purpose of simple pleasures which the world of nature can afford makes a little
difference in environmental protection . As we proclaim to be in a
technological world , we need not be lead by technology .Technology can be
built to suit our needs , as opposed to the needs being created to suit the
death wish of technology.
