In the context of the stationing of para military forces in Orissa , Jharkand , Chhatisgarh among other regions in Central India for Operation Green Hunt even as Amnesty International exposes what Multinational Companies are upto in the region ,it is necessary to contrast and place on record that thousands of people have been killed in the Western regions of the country in Maharashtra , Gujarat in particular, without any serious attempt by the Union of India to take action against organizations involved who openly are committed to violence and not to democracy or democratic methods and threaten people on a daily basis in Mumbai, where there is a government of the same party as in New Delhi . Whereas the attacks on people of Indian origin have to be condemned severely more attacks have taken place on people of Indian origin in Mumbai than in Australia on the ground that they are migrants or belong to minority groups or have exercised their freedom of speech in collusion with the law enforcement authorities .If Indian citizens can migrate to other countries and that includes people from Mumbai and Maharashtra , what is the logic in citizens of India being prohibited from working in other states of the Indian Union. Whereas ordinary working people on daily wages are being asked to learn Marathi, the same demand is not being made on CEOs of Indian and foreign corporate houses in Mumbai who have the facilities to learn the language , even as the children of many of these political organizations are in private schools which has English as the medium of instruction and associate with a predominantly Hindu film industry in Mumbai . The Shiv Sena incidentally took no similar action against Mr. Advani or Mr. Jaswant Singh who extolled Jinnah the real architect of partition in collusion with the Imperial power , book shops or halls or meetings in which these leaders books were available or spoke were not attacked , similarly it was pointed out in a TV debate that a Pakistani cricket player was hosted by a leader of the Shiv Sena.Similarly the Shiv Sena did not criticize Mr. Chidambaram ,the Home Minister or demand that the Home Minister leave for Pakistan, when he openly stated that the IPL should not have discriminated against Pakistani Cricket players as there was no such reservation expressed by the government . When Mr. Hemant Karkare , a senior Police Officer and a Marathi manoos received serious threats for exposing by his investigation the covert forces behind the bomb blasts , what the situation in Mumbai can be understood , a complete erosion of law and order over several years and yet no one has taken any action against repeated violence perpetrated in the city of Mumbai against individuals and establishments even as violence in Central India invites Operation Green Hunt , the citizens of the country are entitled to ask what about the violence based on religion , region and against those who investigate the criminality of organizations . Or is the policy against political violence a selective one, as Roman Rolland the famous writer had written to Mahatma Gandhi from Europe questioning the source of violence , that it was the major Corporations in Europe who were perpetrating war and violence on citizens in the period prior to and during World War II . It appears that there are organizations and individuals in Pakistan and India who keep the divide alive to attack innocent citizens on both sides on the basis of the policy of divide and rule which serves Imperialism in South Asia as in 1947 for better occupation, restructuring of the region and seizure of resources . The Pakistani Taliban and Al Qaeda and the Indian Taliban are useful entities for an on the ground destruction of democracy . For the source of violence read the reportsof the Srikrishna Commission confined to the dustbin by the State of Maharashtra and the Union of India among other reports , even as the Judge himself is appointed to head the Telengana Commission an indication of a confidence in his abilities . ----- Original Message ----- From: Niloufer Bhagwat To: [email protected] Cc: ial central ; [email protected] Sent: Monday, February 08, 2010 12:34 PM Subject: Re: [humanrights-movement:2224] Shiv Sena's Tirade Against Shah RukhKhan-An Open Letter to CM, Maharashtra ----- Original Message ----- From: Niloufer Bhagwat To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, February 08, 2010 12:27 PM Subject: Re: [humanrights-movement:2224] Shiv Sena's Tirade Against Shah RukhKhan-An Open Letter to CM, Maharashtra This is not the first attempt to coerce citizens by diverse organizations acquiesced in by the State of Maharashtra at the highest levels. A complant lodged with the State of Maharashtra Law and Home Departments and with the Police by a citizen from Pune on the editorial written in Saamna against Mr. Hemant Karkare, Jt. Commission of Police Mumbai ( A Marathi Manoos )which prima facie constituted a threat and which appeared on the morning of 26/11 the day he was assassinated, has not been investigated till date . Saamna is merely the mouth piece of the diverse financial interest groups Indian and foreign who attempt to control Mumbai with the help of the underworld to involve Indian society in diversionary issues against the unity and integrity of the country .Organizations are created and floated as per the immediate interest to be met, some time in the name of the Shiv Sena and its new adjunct , sometimes the Indian Mujahideen , Al Qaeda , Indian Fidayeen etc. etc ----- Original Message ----- From: ram puniyani To: ram puniyani Sent: Friday, February 05, 2010 8:14 PM Subject: [humanrights-movement:2224] Shiv Sena's Tirade Against Shah RukhKhan-An Open Letter to CM, Maharashtra ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: shabnam hashmi <[email protected]> Date: Thu, Feb 4, 2010 at 6:31 PM Subject: An Open Letter to CM, Maharashtra To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] An Open Letter to the Maharashtra Chief Minister The Chief Minister Maharashtra Dear Mr Ashok Chavan, Every society gives enough warning signals before turning totally anti democratic and fascist in nature. If we go back in history we will find that even in fascist Germany the first attack came on the freedom of expression of artists and intellectuals. It is very natural as the struggle for peace, democracy, secular thought, justice and communal harmony is waged by sensitive and creative people. The dream of an equal and just society has always been projected by either the mass movements of ordinary poor and marginalized people, secular political forces, human rights activists or has been portrayed by artists, poets, film makers, theatre directors etc. So those people whose agenda and preoccupation is to spread hatred and disharmony always attack the artists, activists, intellectuals and thinkers. Unfortunately in the past we have ignored these danger signals and violent acts thus allowing the perpetrators of hate mongering not only to go scot free but also to further vitiate the atmosphere. What has been happening in Maharashtra the past few months is absolutely shocking and is an attack on the democratic rights of the citizens of not only Maharashtra but all Indians. I am writing to you as a member of the National Integration Council, Ministry of Home Affairs and I request you to immediately take steps to ensure that the goondaism unleashed by the Shiv Sena and MNS is stopped immediately. I request you to ensure that Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan , whose effigies were burnt in Mumbai and especially Shahrukh Khan, who has received threats in the past few days, are given adequate security, that there is no disturbance when their films are released or screened in theaters. I request you to ensure that no taxi driver or auto rickshaw driver is harassed for not knowing or speaking Marathi (its good that you backtracked on January 20 from a similar unconstitutional stand on the question of issuing licenses to the taxi drivers) and that their constitutional and democratic rights of working or living in any part of India are not violated by Shiv Sena hoodlums on the roads. The kind of filthy language which is being used and threats which are being issued against the senior leaders of your own party are absolutely unacceptable and need to be condemned strongly. I request you to urgently arrest and prosecute those who are behind the recent incidents.
