Ever watched National Geographic? How about Fox news? Read the *Wall Street Journal *or the *New York Post*? American Idol anyone? Yup, those are all owned, at least in part, by News Corp. One corporation with so much control over what we read and watch might have you worried. Thankfully, Rupert Murdoch wants News Corp. to be a good, green corporate citizen. The company has stated publicly that "News Corporation is committed to addressing its impact on climate change." They also say they "hope to engage our audiences and enable them to find ways to reduce carbon emissions in their own lives." *So why is News Corp giving so much air time and column inches to people who attack climate science and mislead the public? * Sean Hannity on a recent Fox News broadcast said "I don't believe climate change is real. I think this is global warming hysteria and alarmism." And in a recent issue of the *Wall Street Journal *columnist Kimberley Strassel said "the inconvenient truth is that the earth's temperatures have flat-lined since 2001." I am writing to you today because I know you understand that global warming isn't a "hoax" or a "belief." It's an unfortunate reality well established by decades of rigorous scientific evidence. *But today, climate science is being distorted and misrepresented and that's where the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) comes in*. UCS is a partnership of more than 250,000 concerned citizens and scientists working for a healthy environment and a safer world. For more than 40 years we have used science to understand problems we face and to develop effective, practical solutions to combat them. *So please join UCS today in urging News Corporation CEO Rupert Murdoch to match his corporation's green pledges with real action.
