Congratulation Arun Agarwal for your letter to P.Chidambaram. His policies have failed. The problem is that the civil society is sandwiched between the Maoists and the trigger happy government. Both of them hate the civil society. Those who sympathize with the Maoists thing that civil society is mostly donor oriented and the government feel that civil society is supporting the Maoist. The aim is to ignore the issues which legitimize the Naxals. Both of them are afraid of the foreign connection while both the Maoists as well as the government is using these terms for themselves. Maoism is not at all an Indian ideology while Chidambaram has invited so many corporates to India which are just indulged in land grab. Question is why they fear the civil society. Political parties are afraid of venturing in the area. So, both Maoists and government are not targeting political parties. They are just targeting civil society. Which means they feel that civil society is working. I do not know much but according to the contention they feel that civil society can change a lot and hence both of them are afraid to allow them to work in these regions.. You have brought it out the mining facts brilliantly. Hope Chidambaram will understand it.
