Kozhikode: Industries department principal secretary T. Balakrishnan said
that it was the determination of his department which saved Pepsi company in
Puthussery from closure. Balakrishnan in the presence of industries minister
Elamaram Kareem said that it was unfortunate that the department was not
able to save Coco Cola factory in Plachimanda. He was speaking in seminar
organised by KSIDC.

The principal secretary came with such a comment when the committee
appointed by government reported that Coca Cola factory incurred loss to the
government.

The state lost a host of employment opportunities due to the closing down of
the company and the government too lost 500 crore as tax. Coca Cola has
branches in 13 states and 200 countries. Their they do not face any problem.
Kerala is the only state which closed down their factory. Have great grief
on the same and people should think why that happened. Efforts were made to
close down Pepsi factory in Puthussery too but due to the determination of
industries department that was never happened, he said.
