Anand To: binoy aa <[email protected]> [image: 2004072313930301.jpg] *6**th** Rejani S. Anand Memorial Conference** * *10 A. M. Saturday, July 24, 2010* *Public Library Hall, Kottayam* Dear friend, Rejani S. Anand is the first victim of the worst educational policies of our governments. Over the years different parties effectively played their part in the political game to attain power and they all conveniently ignored the burning dalit issues in the educational sector. The self financing educational institutions are the cemetery of student rights, especially the rights of the dalit students. It is not much time since the news papers have reported the denial of educational grants to dalit students in various self financing institutions in Kerala. Even though the government has declared these grants for the reservation categories, no step has been taken to administer it. Indeed the government seems to have ignored the report of Khalid Commission which was instituted to study the problems of dalit students in the educational sector. Not a single step is taken to table it before the public. Till today Rejani’s family was not given the compensation offered. We fear that these anti-dalit attitudes of different governments, disparity among the dalit communities and the financial backwardness of dalits may again cause similar incidents. Even after acquiring higher educational qualifications the dalits in Kerala are jobless. Many of these highly qualified personals have to do menial jobs to look after their family. The anti-dalit private managements and the governments who support them are the main culprits behind this precarious situation. DSM, in this sixth year of Rejani’s martyrdom, raises four different yet interconnected slogans. 1. Anti-dalit attitudes overruling the self financing educational sector and different governments should be changed. 2. From primary level onwards CBSE model syllabus should be instituted. 3. Make sure that Reservation is practised in the teaching and non-teaching posts in the aided sector and 4. Dalit Christian’s right for reservation should be assured from Degree level onwards. We cordially invite you to this memorial conference and wish your wholehearted participation to make it a great success. *General Convener * * DALIT STUDENTS MOVEMENTS * *KOTTAYAM* *KERALA * * * -- Jayasuryan K.K Junior Research Fellow Environmental Biotechnology Division School of Environmental Sciences Mahatma Gandhi University Kerala India -- Joby Mathew -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
