Bhattarai since the Palungtar Extended Plenum of the party central committee has tendered several note of dissents. The Maoists’ Party steering committee meeting held at the parliamentary premises Thursday, February 3, 2011, hours before the election process began had decided to support Chairman Khanal. The Bhattarai panel contested the decision but the “sponsored” effort went in vain. “How could Jhal Nath all of a sudden become a nationalist figure as he was proposed by Oli, who the party believes is an Indian agent and supported by Madhav Nepal-an Indian puppet”, questioned a Maoists’ parliamentarian from the Bhattarai camp while talking to a Nepali media. Dr. Bhattarai is taken as an expert on writing note of dissents. His rival camp now takes Bhattarai as ‘Dr. Note of Dissent’. This abundantly makes it clear that Prachanda and Dr. Bhattarai represent now two opposing camps inside the Party of the former rebels. Analysts presume that the fissure in between the two NOIDA dwellers will further increase in the days ahead for some explainable reasons. *Posted on : 2011-02-04 10:04:13* II. http://www.nepalnews.com/archive/2011/feb/feb07/news05.php Maoist trade union undergoes vertical split The Unified CPN (Maoist) affiliated trade union, All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF), has undergone a vertical split with the Federation’s senior vice chairman Badri Prasad Bajgain announcing a parallel organisation on Sunday. Bajgain has announced the formation of All Nepal Revolutionary Trade Union (ANRTU) and formed a 75-member committee under him to organise its national convention. A meeting of cadres close to Bajgain on February 1 and 2 in Kathmandu decided to form a parallel organisation. Bajgain is a trade union leader close to Maoist vice chairman Mohan Baidhya, while ANTUF chairman Shaligram JammarKattel is considered close to party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Bajgain and other trade union leaders in the new committee have accused the JammarKattel-led federation of bypassing them and not paying heed to their views. We have been facing exclusion, physical attack and false accusations for supporting vice-chairman Baidhya’s line presented in the Kharipati convention since over a year, said Bajgain in a statement announcing the formation of the new trade union, we have formed a parallel union to organise the scattered cadres as we were not included in the Federation. We waited long enough for the party leadership to intervene and resolve the issues in the federations, Bajgain further said, and decided to act on our own when they did not pay heed.
