Dear friends, Yesterday's Raipur edition Bhaskar had a sinister news item with the banner headlines saying that Swami Agnivesh hailed the Maoists with Lal Salaam. Then alleging that Swamiji and one woman behind him were shouting slogans, Indian Army go back etc, CPI ( maoist) Lal Salaam etc. http://www.bhaskar.com/article/CHH-RAI-swami-agnivesh-of-the-maoist-red-salute-1984251.html And the abduction and the release of policemen was all a pretense by the Maoists - an image makeover etc. This latest attack I think has happened as Swamiji has decided to make a noise against the burning down of houses, killings and rapes of the Tribalss by COBRAS and KOYA Commanders of the Chhattisgarh police force, in Dantewada and since he is also mobilising groups and people in Chhattisgarh to raise their voice against these violations so in order to discredit him they are doing this. Media and state flogging of the PUCL is so everyday that one has grown used to it. However, this latest propaganda and dragging me into the whole thing is because, of the SC orders of the 29th March in the Right to Food petition which asked for a joint inspection and a report to the court on the situation of food scarcity and hunger deaths in these regions. The ROLE OF BHASKAR I just want to share that Bhaskar is behaving like an extension of the PHQ. ITs company DB power has immense mining interest in the region. DB Power is a subsidiary of DB Corp Ltd, a media company that owns the Hindi* Dainik Bhaskar* and English *DNA *and the *My FM* radio station. AS only as recently as 28th Februay, 2011, there was a public hearing against its latets project in Raigarh. The company's most recent project in Dharamjaigarh shall displace 524 families from six settlements to extract 2 million tonnes of coal every year to fuel a 1320 MW thermal power plant that shall be built in the adjoining district of Janjgir. Bhaskar didnot report about the dissatifaction of the people inthe public hearing, Infact they wrote the reverse. The people were very unhappy so they attcked the DB power office. The only people who wrote were the english media and the local media. They also slapped cases against the 12 ocal reporters, a university professors and all those they wanted to silence. Bhaskar has been continuing with its fiction this month ever since it faced resistance to get the land. On the 19th they published a report that in Tadmetla ( dantewada) the police killed 31 maoists and also showed a photo of 37 funerals happening together. IT was this news that was debunked by The Hindu and The TImes of India on the 23rd of March when the world got to know what actualy happened there. Now today they published this news about swamiji and me. I am sending you people all the links. The DB power news items publihsed in other papers and the 19th March, 31 maoist killed news. I *really feel that atleast as afar as today's news item goes we must go to court. WE must challenge it . This is such rubbish that they have published*. Please open the links and read them.
