A Mangalore college has banned female students from entering college wearing
Burqa and has ordered that female students should be dressed neatly . Is it the
right decision from the part of college authorities ? Dress code , to a certain
extent is part of religious belief and part of the patriarchal system .
Muslim women wear Burqa only because their religion and the patriarchy system
in their community want them to follow it . No women will chose Burqa if they
get a choice to wear whatever dress code they like . Burqa is something which
is imposed on the Muslim women without their will and Muslim feminists will not
say anything against it because they are afraid of religious fundamentalists .
So they project Burqa as a right of Muslim women . I know a Muslim girl who
liked Jeans and T shirt very much , but her family never allow her outside
without Burqa . So she wears  Burqa,  and when she reach college , she will
change her dress . So the fact is Muslim women does not like it . But can
anybody take a decision that Muslim women should not wear it ? I think this is
an RSS propaganda to encroach into the beliefs of Muslim community . Islam is
far better than Hinduism regarding how they treat women . A girl born in a
Hindu family suffers more torture than a girl born in any other religion in the
world . Then how can RSS and other communities can come up with these kinds of
decisions which are aimed at keeping self interests ? So the decision by
Mangalore college authorities is one sided and needs to be checked at any cost
. If Muslim women face any issues related to Dress code , marriage or divorce ,
let them come forward and start a
revolution against their religion . Only that kind of an approach can bring a
permanent solution .
(Note : "Mangalore college principal says girls can wear Burqa in campus but
not in classrooms" .... This seems funny because principal believes girls
should change dress before entering class .... What nonsense is this ?)
