I would only suggest a reading, if anyone has not read it yet, of a popular old book, Benedict Anderson's *Imagined Communities *to know how nations get constructed. In our case it was a response to colonialism and strangely the concept of the nation we constructed is deeply colonial , following the very Orientalist concepts about India.
