Fish workers take out march STAFF REPORTER, The Hindu The Kerala Swathanthra Matsya Thozhilali Federation on Monday took out a march to the Observatory here in protest against the non-issuance of forecasts on inclement weather that led to the death of fishermen and other losses to the fishing community late last week. The protest, inaugurated by National Fishworkers Forum national secretary T. Fishermen Gherao met centre in city By Express News Service - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM 19th February 2013 12:18 PM Fishermen gheraoed the Meteorological Department’s centre in the city on Monday accusing it of not informing them in time about the climate changes which, in turn, causes accidents and deaths in the seas as a result of violent storms. The fishermen do not have any measures to identify the climatic changes and the Met Centre has to take immediate measures on it,” said Valiyathura ward councillor Tony Oliver, who took part in the protest. The Federation has also warned that unless an action plan was chalked out by Thursday to ensure safety in sea, the fishermen will again take out a march to the Met Centre on Friday. At the protest on Monday, Anto Elias, J P John, Valerian Issac, Joseph Lopez, Maglin Peter, Freeska Kurisappan, Girly John, Germi Roy, Mable Nasiyan, Pushparani Lean, Patric Fernandez, Xavier Kulas and T Ouseph spoke. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
