To The Govt of Kerala cc [to all patriarchs claiming monopoly on knowledge of faith] Dear Sirs, It is learned that the Govt of Kerala in its latest notification of rules governing Muslim marriage has lowered the age of marriage for Muslim women as 16 years . This is most embarrassing at a time when Muslim women in this state with 25% Muslim population increasingly aspire for best education ,job and to top it all, full constitutional and civil access to their rights as citizens of India. One hopes the Govt of Kerala will withdraw the notification ASAP, and that it will do better to treat Muslim women more as persons than as property, or worse as just objects serving its nefarious political machinations . The Govt of Kerala and all concerned should understand the implications of that one in all 8 Keralites is probably a Muslim woman who may be in need of not just husband but better education, job and life!
