Dear Friends, Please find attached my open letter to the Assocham's Senior Director Mr. Ajay Sharma. I was invited by the Assocham as a speaker in its International Conference on Nuclear Energy being organised tomorrow (August 23, 2013). I have declined to speak in the discussion as the Conference is totally lop-sided with only tokenistic space for the dissenters. The Chief Guest in this Conference is Mr. Narayanasamy, the Minister of State in the PMO, who has very recently lied to the Indian parliament about Fukushima accident having no significant impact on the population in Japan. International nuclear corporate leaders and Ambassadors of Russia, Canada and the US, who are dignitaries in this Conference, are among the principle promoters of nuclear energy in India despite scams, inefficiencies, unviability and accidents in their own countries. In my open letter, I have raised some urgent and important issues that are being brushed aside by the government's anachronistic obsession with nuclear power which is on a global decline after Fukushima and is inherently unsafe, expensive, secretive and cannot be a prudent solution for our energy needs. I request you to carry this letter in your esteemed publicaion.
