New Delhi: In a sensational claim an independent journalist has claimed BJP
MPs Prakash Javadekar, Bhupendra Yadav and RSS general secretary Ramlal
Gupta were part of a plan to derail the trial in the 2001 Tulsi Prajapati
encounter case.

Journalist Pushp Sharma, who conducted the sting operation, today told a
press conference to have recordings which indicated that Gujarat Chief
Minister Narendra Modi was aware that Prajapati was killed in a fake
encounter.

In the recordings, Javedkar could be heard saying that Modi had made Amit
Shah in charge of managing the fake encounter case, alleged Sharma.

Prajapati was killed in an encounter near Chapri village in Banaskantha
district on 28 December, 2006. He was also a key witness in the Sohrabuddin
Sheikh case in which former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah and other
senior Gujarat Police officials are facing trial.

According to Sharma, he has recordings that indicate the BJP leaders were
successful in getting Narmada Prajapati, Tulsi’s mother, to sign at least
six blank vakalatnamas (documents which declare who one’s lawyer is).

“These documents which Narmada Prajapati signed are very crucial because
with them it allowed the lawyer to change the course of the trial the way
the BJP wanted to,” he said.

Sharma said that the BJP leaders had also planted their own lawyer to
represent her so that the case against Shah could be weakened. However, he
said he has no evidence to suggest that the documents signed by Tulsi’s
mother had been used in court.

“I am not aware whether the vakalatnamas where she was used to sign was
used in the court or not. That should be investigated,” he said.

Sharma was scheduled to play the recordings in the Delhi Press Club today
but was unable to because of technical problems. He instead told the
journalists the contents of the recordings. The video clippings, which were
recorded between September 2010 and November 2012, are still to be verified.

The journalist said that a PIL had been filed in Supreme Court which
included the videos of the sting operation and transcripts of the video.
The apex court is still to decide if it will hear the petition.

Sharma said he had known Javadekar for six years. In January 2012, he said
BJP leaders had asked him to put them in touch with Parajapati’s family as
the party wanted to compensate the family.

Later that year, when he discovered that the family had not received any
compensation, Sharma said his suspicions were aroused and he captured
subsequent meetings on camera.
