A question that has been posed after Truth Of Gujarat’s
revelation<http://www.truthofgujarat.com/amit-shahs-phone-call-records-exposes-his-role-in-javed-ishrat-fake-encounter/>
about
calls made between Amit Shah and DG Vanzara as to why are Amit Shah’s call
suspicious? Why is Home Minister talking to a Police Officer termed as
‘revealing’? The answer is multi-pronged.
 Serial No.Caller 1 Caller 2Date-Time Remarks1 VanzaraAmit Shah (R)1/6/04
23:22 The day Rajinder Kumar generated the fake intelligence input
2VanzaraAmit Shah (R)8/6/04
23:54 About 36 hours before Amin/Barot start camping to intercept
Javed-Ishrat 3 VanzaraAmit Shah 14/6/04 22:57Night before the
encounter 4VanzaraAmit
Shah 15/6/04 6:1040 minutes after the encounter! Amit Shah himself calls
Vanzara 5 VanzaraAmit Shah 15/6/04 7:091:40 hours after the encounter

The very first aspect that has to be noted is that Vanzara is a prime
accused in the conspiracy of the Javed-Ishrat case. At this stage of
investigation, any contacts made by the prime accused with any other person
during the period of the conspiracy or the commission of crime, the person
stands as a suspect.

In the present case, it is even more suspicious because as per the
protocol, on all official transactions, the Minister of State for Home
speaks to the head of the departments of police. This is further
illustrated in the observation CBI has made in their charge sheet in the
case of Tulsiram Prajapati.

“As per the official protocol, a Minister of State for Home, Government of
Gujarat would be normally expected to talk/ discuss with the Home Secretary
and/ or the Chief Secretary, and further, if he were to be so briefed, then
also, he would be expected to talk/ discuss with the Chief of the
Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) or the Crime Branch”

Vanzara was neither the chief of ATS or chief the Crime Branch, in fact he
was just a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and there are 28 such DIGs in the
state of Gujarat. So the onus is therefore on the Home Minister to explain
as to what he was speaking about with a low level officer who has now
proven to have been committing a crime at that very moment.

More importantly all the calls made between Amit Shah and Vanzara match the
timing and sequence of events as described by multiple police personnel of
the Gujarat State in their CrPC 164 and 161 statements that describes the
unfolding of the conspiracy. In the backdrop of the abundant evidence that
the encounter was a staged one,

   1. What were Amit Shah and Vanzara speaking about just few hours before
the ghastly encounter? (Refer to Call 3 in the table)
   2. What explains Amit Shah calling Vanzara 40 minutes after the
encounter at 6:10 a.m on 15th June? None of the policemen who were
reportedly present at the scene of crime have said that any one of them had
spoken to Amit Shah immediately after the encounter. If it was a ‘genuine’
encounter as claimed by the Gujarat Police, how come Amit Shah knew about
it at the ungodly hour of 6:10a.m. and instead of calling the Commissioner
of Police, he has to call up the prime accused Vanzara?
   3. What explains all the midnight calls in the table above between a
Home Minister and a police officer of the rank of DIG during that period?
(Refer Call 1 and Call 2)

Lastly it should be remembered that Call Data Records (CDR) are an
important tool for investigation as it reveals the connections between the
co-accused and no investigation can be complete before the analyzing the
CDR.

It would therefore be appropriate that the CBI should summon Amit Shah to
reply to all the questions posed by us
