Secretary of CPN-Maoist Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has warned that his
party will be forced to wage another revolt if there are attempts to write
the new constitution by sidelining the party.

“We would institute an alternative power and wage a revolt if we feel that
the achievements of the decade-long people’s war is at risk,” he said while
speaking at a press meet organised by Federation of Revolutionary
Journalist in Dhankuta on Monday.

Chand said that the agenda of CPN-Maoist party, which boycotted the
November 19 election, is to draft the much awaited new constitution for the
country through an all-party round table conference.

“But if there is agreement on ensuring the rights of oppressed,
marginalised, and victimized people and workers as well as identity-based
federalism then we are ready to accept the soon-to-be formed Constituent
Assembly as it is,” he said.

The Maoist leader further warned the “parliamentary parties” against
engaging in conspiracy to dump the achievements of the people’s war in the
name of republicanism, adding that if that happens then the country will
again revert back to armed conflict.
