Subject: [whyremember:2577] Kandhamal Day: Meeting on 25th August, Struggle
for justice and peace

Kandhamal communal violence :struggle for justice and peace

Six years ago, Kandhamal was shaken by anti- Christian violence on August
25 which displaced more than 56, 000 people, destroyed over 300 churches
and 6,500 houses. The victims and their families still await justice for
the violence-both visible and invisible, that they suffered.

It is important that such acts of violence are not allowed to be consumed
by silence and amnesia. On August 25, 2014 'Hum Azaadiyon ke Haq Mein' and
'Centre for Study of Society and Secularism' are organizing a panel
discussion by Anand Patwardhan, Irfan Engineer and Vahida Nainar to observe
'Kandhamal Day'. This is our attempt to make sure that such acts of
communal hatred and violence are not allowed to be forgotten and to extend
solidarity to the victims and survivors of Kandhamal violence.

We hope that you will join us in our struggle for justice, peace and
accountability.
