Special Correspondent The National Fishworkers' Forum (NFF) and Kerala Swathantra Matsya Thozhilali Federation (KSMTF) have urged the Central government to reject the report of the B. Meenakumari commission recommending the creation of an offshore buffer zone. A joint press note issued by NFF secretary T. Peter and KSMTF president P.P. John here on Friday said the move to create a buffer zone and restrict fishing in the area was aimed at helping foreign trawlers. It said the proposal would affect the livelihood of traditional fishermen.
