Final Tally:

Maharashtra (Total Seats: 288):
BJP: 122
SS: 63
Congress: 42
NCP: 41
MNS: 1

Haryana:
BJP: 47
INLD: 19
Congress: 15
JHC: 2

To put things in perspective, the BJP has performed rather
miraculously in both the states if the last assembly poll results are
the reference points. But way worse than the last LS poll performance
in Haryana. Even in Maharashtra it's somewhat less than what was
widely expected. But, again, much better than the intervening by-polls
(in other states).
For the Congress, it's just disastrous with the last assembly polls as
the reference points. But, way better than the just concluded LS poll.

For the MNS in Maharashtra and the JHC in Haryana it's the end of the road?
Time will tell.
