Delhi polls: AAP to move Supreme Court seeking probe into funding of Congress, BJP and its own Ashok Bagriya, CNN-IBN | Feb 03, 2015 at 09:28am IST New Delhi: Facing allegations over its own fundings, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to approach the Supreme Court seeking a probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the funding of all the three main political parties contesting Assembly elections in Delhi. According to AAP leaders, the party wants the Congress, BJP and as well as its own sources of funding. The demand for a probe surfaced after allegations of bogus funding in the party were levelled by the AAP Volunteer Action Manch who claimed that fake entries were made in AAP's account books to evade tax. AAP rebels highlighted donations worth 50 lakh rupees each from 4 different companies on the same day and the same time. They also claimed that the addresses provided by the companies were fake and that AAP's website showed only 55 lakh receieved. However, the AAP claimed they took donations in cash and that it can't vouch for the donor companies. Defending their stand, the AAP said said that they are ready to face any action if found guilty. "AAP demands constitution of an SIT to probe funding of all three main political parties. The SIT should be monitored by the Supreme Court as we already know how the government can manipulate a probe," AAP's Yogendra Yadav said while daring the parties to disclose their fundings publicly. Asserting that it adopted "total transparency" in its funding, Yadav at a press conference accused BJP of attempting to influence the voters ahead of the February 7 polls by bringing out false allegations. Yadav said, "strangely instead of inquiring against AAP, the BJP ministers are making allegations even after sitting on the files for eight months." He said the party had anticipated such activities by BJP and Kejriwal had warned about it a few days ago. The AAP also challenged the government to probe the allegations by any central investigating agency including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (EC). -- Peace Is Doable -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
