[That the Bihar Governor, not exactly known for non-partisan conduct,
has eventually invited Kumar to form government indicates the rather
unlikelihood of the BJP legislators creating a ruckus in the sate
assembly during trust vote and thereby providing the Governor a ruse
to recommend Governor's rule in the state.
But we'll have to wait and watch.

If, as is now being widely expected, Kumar wins the floor-test and
gets to head the state government; he'd obviously use it as a platform
for launching the campaign for the forthcoming state election, not too
far away.
It'd be an acid test for his political astuteness. And also that of
his other political allies.]

Governor K N Tripathi has invited senior Janata Dal (United) leader
Nitish Kumar to form new government in the state. Rebel JD-U leader
and outgoing Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi earlier resigned after he
failed to garner support in the state assembly.

Kumar would be administered oath of office tomorrow and is expected to
be given a week to prove majority in the assembly. Earlier today Bihar
Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi resigned just before presenting the
confidence motion in the state assembly.

Manjhi later claimed that he resigned because there were threats on
his and his supporters' life.

"We have been getting threatening calls. The speaker also acted in
partisan manner. If the governor has allowed secret ballot, we would
have got the numbers. The seating arraignment also omitted several of
our supporting MLAs. However, to save life and honour of our
legislators, I decided to resign," said Manjhi in a hurriedly called
press conference.

Meanwhile, Kumar described his decision to quit office last year as "a
mistake" and asked for forgiveness from people. "With folded hands, I
apologise to people of Bihar. Never again I will take such a step. I
am ready to lead from the front." Kumar's contrition echoes the
apology issued by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while he was
campaigning for Delhi's election.

"Manjhi should have resigned if he did not want to face the house. We
have already requested to governor that trust vote should have been
taken before Budget session," he said. He blamed the BJP for this
instability. "They tried to buy votes, but failed to garner votes. BJP
brought the state on the brink of chaos," told the former chief
minister.

Meanwhile, Manjhi supporters are also startled by his resignation. "We
had the number till last night. I don't what transpired last night,
but we didn't have a clue that he was going to resign," said rebel
JD-U legislator Rajiv Ranjan. Even the move made BJP uncomfortable.

"We thought he would put a fight even if he had to resign," said one
of BJP legislator.

Bihar CM, apologises

Patna: Perhaps taking a leaf out of aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind
Kejriwal, Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar has also admitted
that he committed a mistake by resigning as the chief minister of
Bihar and has apologised to the people for it.

Speaking to mediapersons in Patna on Friday after meeting Bihar
Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, Kumar said, "I accept my mistake for
stepping down as CM. I seek apology from people of Bihar for this
mistake."

Kumar said he was he was waiting for the Governor to invite him to
form the government as JDU has already staked its claim to form
government.

Kumar said he was waiting for the Governor to invite him to form the
government as JDU has already staked its claim to form government.

He came down heavily on both Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and
the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"The BJP's game plan has failed. The BJP stands exposed," he said.

He said probably first time in Indian politics, half-an-hour before
the floor test, a CM has resigned.

Kumar said Manjhi sought BJP's support and they tried their best to
violate anti-defection law. "Instead of Constitution, they used jugaad
technology," he said.

He alleged that the drama of this script was written by the BJP.

He also clarified that he never interfered in the government. "I never
interfered in the govt as alleged by Manjhi," he said.
