There were seven of our matters before the Gujarat High Court today. Four of our De-Freezing (of Bank Accounts) Matters. These have been listed on 27.7.2015. The Zakiya Jafri Matter is now also ripe for final hearing and will also be begin to be heard from 27.7.2015. Mihir Desai and Suhel Tirmizi appeared in these matters. The attacks from the powers that be could re-double. Hearings in the two last 2002 Trials (Naroda Gaam and Gulberg) continue in the Special Courts. Yesterday the Gujarat HC granted three months bail to the aide of Maya Kodnani, Kiran Korani. Meanwhile in the matter of being constrained from travel, I (Teesta Setalvad) have appealed against the Sessions Court Order (29.06.2015) and moved the Gujarat High Court for both Modifications of the Conditions and Quashing of the FIR. These matters have been listed for 9.7.2015. Frontline Defenders has issued a Fresh Alert on these attempts to curb free movement. https://www.frontlinedefenders.org/node/29073 Meanwhile our Anticipatory Bail Application in the Supreme Court of India has been delayed (from the original date of 7.7.2015) but the Supreme Court has yesterday extended interim protection against arrest until 15.09.2015 Meanwhile to recap:- There are Multiple Criminal inquiries against me, all initiated by the Gujarat Police Of these, six, are politically motivated FIRs (which means criminal complaints against whom I have had to run for anticipatory bail since 2004), three sleeping inquiries with the same, vicious Crime Branch that could be vindictively revived any time. (The last of the six FIRs is not just against me but also my husband and colleague Javed Anand. It is a shameful bid to intimidate and cripple us organizationally.) Organisational Harassment:- Freezing of our organizational and personal accounts since early 2014. The De-Freezing Petitions came up for hearing before the Gujarat High Court, also today. Hearing has been fixed for 27.07.2015 Other Governmental Inquiries Now, the Service tax department (under the union finance ministry) has initiated an inquiry (!!!), Media reports say so has CBI. Reports of an MHRD Inquiry (March 2014) have so far remained reports.
