Faisal Arefin Dipan, whose publishing house published a book of slain
writer-blogger Avijit Roy, has been hacked to death in the capital's
Aziz Supermarket.

OC Shahbagh Abu Bakar Siddique told the Dhaka Tribune that the
incident took place at the outlet of Jagriti Prakashani located on the
second floor of Aziz Supermarket on Saturday evening, a few hours
after another of Avijit's publishers, Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, came under
similar attack.

The OC said: "The criminals also locked the outlet up from the outside
and fled the spot immediately. Later, police recovered the body,
breaking the lock."

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. Dipan is the son
of Dhaka University Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque.

Saturday's attacks come amid fears about the rise of extremism in
Bangladesh. At least four atheist bloggers have been murdered in the
country earlier this year.
