'Get judicial probe done to prove I am Naxelite, anti-national or resign': Sandeep Pandey to BHU V-C Ashish Tripathi <http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/toireporter/author-Ashish-Tripathi-1668.cms> | TNN | Jan 18, 2016, 06.35 AM IST LUCKNOW: Magsaysay awardee Sandeep Pandey on Sunday demanded judicial probe into premature termination of his service contract as a visiting faculty at department of chemical engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Benaras Hindu University, by IIT-BHU board of governors (BoG). In a letter to the vice-chancellor Prof GC Tripathi, Pandey said that he wants judicial probe into the matter and asked V-C to resign if allegations against him of being a Naxelite and an anti-national are proved false. The letter dated January 6, 2016, terminating Pandey's three years contract prematurely does not mention any reason, but he then claimed he got to know from the officials, who attended the December 21, 2015, BoG meeting, in which decision to sack him was taken, that he was accused by some members of being a Naxalite and an anti-national, supporting employee's agitation and screening banned documentary on the campus. Pandey also openly accused V-C of working for the RSS and claimed that the decision to sack him was the part of the RSS agenda to take over educational institutitons in the country and remove everyone who is opposed to its divisive and communal ideology. A section of BHU teachers and students have come out in support of Pandey and launched an agitation. His removal also saw a nation-wide outrage with support pouring in from all quarters. On Sunday, when contacted, Pandey said that he wrote to the V-C in response to the verbal explaination sought from him by the IIT-BHU director Prof Rajeev Sangal. "The V-C asked me through the director why I'm raising the issue at the level of university when the matter pertains to only IIT on campus, why I am making personal allegations against V-C and why a judicial enquiry should not be set up in this matter?," he said. "I chose to response in writing directly to the V-C. I have written that I also want a judicial probe and challanged him (V-C) to resign if allegations against me are prove false," he added. In the letter, Pandey said "By acting against me based on a single complaint by MA political science student and not that of any IIT student(s) who attended my classes, the V-C has made it a university level issue and not me....Since it was the V-C who brought up my issue in the BoG, he is guilty of tarnishing my image by claiming that I am a naxalite and am involved in anti-national activities, now making it difficult for me to teach anywhere in the country." Pandey has also said that questions were raised on his one-to-one interactive non-competitive teaching and evaluation methodology and accused of not taking classes and putting banned documentary on university Intranet.
