CPI(M) on Thursday indicated it is willing to have an understanding with Congress for the upcoming assembly polls in West Bengal to "oust" TMC from Government and "isolate" BJP in the state. Speaking to press persons here after conclusion of party's Central Committee (CC) meeting in New Delhi, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said the Left party will seek support and co-operation from "all democratic forces" to dethrone the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC in the state. During the two-day CC meeting, the CPI (M) also discussed electoral tactics for forthcoming polls in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Assam, he informed. "In order to restore democracy and foil communal polarisation by BJP ... that is the main task we think can be achieved only by ousting TMC from Government in West Bengal. "In order to achieve this objective, the CPI(M) will seek support of all democratic forces in Bengal," Yechury said without naming Congress. He said the CPI(M) West Bengal committee will work out a proposal on having understanding with other "democratic" forces and on the basis of the same party politburo will take a final decision in this regard. "The CC during the meeting has authorised politburo to take a final call in this regard," Yechury said and added CPI(M) has not begun negotiations or discussions with "anybody outside the Left Front" in West Bengal as yet. "We want to strengthen people's unity in West Bengal and to do that, we are appealing to all democratic forces to co-operate," he said sending out a message to other parties. Yechury' remarks come in the wake of reports that the Kerala unit of the party was opposed to the idea of West Bengal committee joining hands with Congress, against which the CPI(M) will be contesting polls in the southern state. In Kerala, Yechury said, Left Democratic Forces (LDF) led by CPI(M) is already in the middle of finalising preparations to "defeat" United Democratic Front (UDF) headed by Congress. The two states are likely to go to polls in April-May this year. Yechury alleged TMC and BJP were into a tacit understanding. He accused the NDA major of adopting "go slow" attitude in CBI investigation into multi-crore Saradha scam, in which several TMC leaders are accused of involvement, in return of the Mamata Banerjee-led party's support in Rajya Sabha. The BJP is in minority in Rajya Sabha. "So, this is a quid pro quo between the two parties," Yechury said and alleged TMC and BJP of consolidating Muslim and Hindu communal forces respectively and complimenting each other. He stated that in Tamil Nadu, the CPI(M) has entered into an alliance with 'People's Welfare Front' which comprises CPI, MDMK and VCK and adopted common minimum programme for the polls.
