Yesterday evening, I was invited for a TV channel debate on the recent issues in JNU. The panelists for the discussion included Kerala State BJP leader Sreedharan Pillai, SFI state leader Shivadasan, Leader of Solidarity Youth Movement Samad and Balachandran KV apart from me. The audience included students from Devagiri College, Calicut. I was a bit demoralised to find out that the BJP leader could not answer any of the questions from either the panel or the audience properly, though he received maximum time to express his views. While he was sweating and struggling to answer the questions, I felt very sympathetic and gave him a kiss on his head. The guy was a bit shocked perplexed and his response was also funny. I sincerely hope that the channel Media One will not edit my kiss!
During the debate, I had also raised a point on the resignation 3 ABVP leaders who resigned from ABVP as a result of current situation in JNU. These ABVP leaders were Pradeep (Joint Secretary ABVP, JNU unit, Rahul Yadav (President, School of Social Sciences) and Ankit Hans, Secretary SSS. Criticising the Centre for “unleashing oppression on the student community”, they said they cannot be the “mouthpiece of such a government”. Their statement says: `* We can’t be mouthpiece of such a govt. which has unleashed oppression on student community, legislature like O P Sharma, govt. which has legitimized the action of right wing fascist forces either in Patiala house court or in front of JNU north gate. Every day we see people assemble at front gate with Indian Flag to beat JNU student, well this is hooliganism not nationalism, you can’t do anything in the name of nation, there is a difference between nationalism and hooliganism.’* Well, this statement straight from ABVP leaders looks interesting. Can anybody enlighten me more on this? Can anybody take their interviews on simple mobile camera and put it on the face book? Those who wish to watch the TV debate in Malayalam on the JNU can switch on to Media One channel at 10 pm tonight. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
