Finally, the Prime Minister of India has stated that he is willing to `face
the the Indian Parliament’. He also stressed on one single point to the
nation. That ` the opposition is not listening to me’. Now, this is a
serious problem in Indian democracy. Why can’t the opposition listen to
him? After all, he is our Prime Minister. He has the right to speak on
behalf of the nation. The opposition does not have that right since the
number of votes determine that right. Therefore, the Indian Prime Minister
can decide what is national and what is anti-national, even if the Indian
Constitution does not allow it. After all, Modi is India and India is Modi.
We have heard that before during the Emergency days in the seventies. The
opposition did not listen at that time also. And see what happened.
Therefore the opposition must listen to the Prime Minister. But what does
the opposition say? `You answer the questions instead of giving
monologues’. Chee chee! Is that the way to treat a Prime Minister? What
makes you think that the Prime Minister can answer all the questions on
demonetisation? There are certain things he can do and certain things he
can not do. So allow him to do what he can. All he is asking for is time.
Please give him that time. It takes time to wipe out the poor and
marginalised. It is not an easy job. Therefore the opposition has to learn
to be patient.
