Mayawati to move court against 'tampering' of EVMs [Video] Mar 15, 2017 | 15:29 IST | SOURCE : Times Now Lucknow: Reiterating her demand for re-polls after her party suffered a drubbing in the state elections, BSP Chief Mayawati has decided to move court against the alleged tampering of Electronic Voter Machines (EVMs). "After we did not get a proper reply from the Election Commission on our complaint lodged with them soon after the results were announced on March 11, the party has decided to go to court in this matter so as to save (the country) from such a fraud in the future and save democracy," she said, addressing a press conference. Mayawati also stated that the party has decided to observe a “black day” to protest against what they gave the "murder of democracy" by the BJP. "Our party has also decided to launch an agitation in Uttar Pradesh and other states to expose this fraud...the party will observe 'black day' at all the district headquarters in UP and state headquarters in other states on the 11th of every month, the date on which they murdered democracy, and the first demonstration will be on April 11," she said. BSP, which had 80 MLAs in the outgoing Assembly, managed to win just 19 seats in the 403-member House. The day the election results were announced, BSP Chief Mayawati had blamed the EVMs for her party’s poor performance in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Addressing a press conference after trends showed a landslide victory for the BJP with the party crossing the 300 mark, Mayawati alleged that the electronic voting machines were “faulty” and that the EVMs did not register votes of any other parties. -- Peace Is Doable -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
