Statement by Not In My Name Campaign Delhi on the killing of Amarnath Yatris and call for a vigil on 11 July, 7pm at Jantar Mantar to mourn the dead We are saddened by the news that seven pilgrims on their way to Amarnath have been killed in an attack by people who can only be described as enemies of humanity. The Kashmir police has issued a statement that the attack was on a police van and the yatris died while the fleeing attackers fired indiscriminately. The Amarnath Yatris have never feared an attack even when the situation in the valley was worse than what it is at present. Kashmiri people have always taken pride in the fact that the Yatra was always safe and never came under any threat. It is tragic that this faith and trust today stands shattered by elements who obviously want to kick start a chain of incidents that will bring more tragedies, more deaths and more hatred. We as citizens have to intervene in this situation and mourn the death of those civilians who unexpectedly became collateral damage and also take a firm stand against politcal violence no matter who the perpetrator. Kashmiris in the valley have been caught in a vortex of violence and it is not too long back that we saw all those disturbing images of young people carrying pellet wounds over their bodies. All lives matter and dead bodies should not become part of a politcs that divides people on the basis of religion. The seven dead did not deserve to die and it is only when we stand up and demand an end to this politics of hatred that we can prevent the deaths of innocents going on a pilgrimage or returning from Eid shopping. Not In My name campaign gives a call to gather at Jantar Mantar and stand in vigil against hate and in grief with the families of those killed. We call upon all citizens to ensure peace and resist any call to violence. #Notinmyname Date - Tuesday, 11 July, 2017 Venue- Jantar Mantar Time- 7:00PM बेहद तकलीफदेह खबर है कि अमरनाथ जा रहे सात तीर्थयात्रियों की हत्या कर दी गई. हत्यारे जो भी हों निश्चित तौर वे इंसानियत के दुश्मन हैं. कश्मीर पुलिस द्वारा जारी बयान में बताया गया है कि हमला पुलिस की गाड़ी पर हुआ था और भागते हुए हमलावरों ने बेतहाशा गोलियां चलानी शुरू कर दी और इन यात्रियों की मौत हो गई. घाटी के हालात जब मौजूदा हालात से भी बेहद ज्यादा ख़राब थे तब भी अमरनाथ यात्रियों को किसी तरह के हमले का कोई खौफ कभी नहीं रहा. कश्मीरी लोगों को हमेशा इस बात पर फक्र रहा है कि अमरनाथ यात्रा हमेशा सुरक्षित रही है और इसे किसी तरह का खतरा कभी नहीं रहा. आज उस भरोसे को ऐसे लोगों ने तार-तार कर दिया है जो चाहते हैं कि लाशों का यह खूनी मंजर और बढ़े, नफरत और फले-फूले. हम आम नागरिकों को इन हालात में दखल करना ही होगा. बेवजह अचानक मौत के घाट उतार दिए गए आम नागरिकों के लिए शोक प्रकट करने के साथ-साथ हमें इस राजनीतिक हिंसा के खिलाफ खड़े होना होगा. घाटी में रहने वाले कश्मीरी हिंसा के भंवर में फंसे हैं और यह कोई बहुत पुरानी बात नहीं हैं जब हम सबने किशोरों और नौजवानों की उन डरावनी तस्वीरों को देखा जिनमे उनके जिस्म पेलेट-गन से छिदे हैं. हर जिंदगी अनमोल है और लाशों पर वह राजनीति नहीं खेली जानी चाहिए जो लोगों को मज़हब के नाम पर बांटती है. वे सात जो मरे वो इस तरह की मौत के हक़दार नहीं थे. ज़रूरी हो जाता है कि हम सब इसके खिलाफ खड़े हों और मांग करें कि नफरत की राजनीति बंद हो ताकि तीर्थयात्रा पर निकला या ईद की खरीददारी कर के घर लौटता कोई मासूम फिर न मारा जाए. ‘नॉट इन माय नेम’ अभियान आप सब से अपील करता है कि जंतर-मंतर पहुंचे और खड़े हों नफरत के खिलाफ और साझा करने के लिए दर्द उन परिवारों का जिन्होंने अपने प्रियजन खोये हैं. कृपया #नॉटइनमायनेम और पीड़ित परिवारों के प्रति एकजुटता के पोस्टर अपने साथ लेकर आयें. हम सब नफरत के खिलाफ हैं और हमारे संदेशों की झलक हमारे पोस्टरों में भी दिखनी चाहिए. सभी नागरिक शांति सुनिश्चित करने के लिए और नफरत की किसी भी आवाज के खिलाफ एकजुट हों. #Notinmyname दिनांक – 11 जुलाई, आज (मंगलवार) स्थान: जंतर-मंतर समय: 7.00 बजे सांय -- Peace Is Doable -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
