Buddha was a great guy. He walked in search of justice, peace and harmony. I am not at all surprised why Ambedkar became a Buddhist. In this caste crippled society at that time, Buddha was a road map towards a certain degree of humanitarian liberation for Dalits. But Buddha had left his wife and child to pursue his spiritual journey. Forget triple talaq. There was not even an utterance of a single talaq. However, Buddha had uttered many sensible words for humanity. One important wisdom he shared to us was that `nothing is permanent in this life’. Marx also said the same thing in another way. Now, I would not like to enter into a debate on the `personal Buddhist problem’ of Karl Marx. But, Marx also spoke on the inevitability of natural and social changes. But we simple human beings would like to believe that everything is permanent. We build our security in our relationship with various institutions – whether it be State, Religion, Family, Political Party, any other organisation or any other institutional or patterns. We do not think for a moment, that none of these are permanent. We take it for granted that our own lives are permanent, without accepting the reality that by the time you read these words of mine in your own mobile face book, you could be knocked off in an accident. The Narendra Modi fans may believe that he is permanent. But he is not. The taste of a cup of tea may last longer than Narendra Modi. A simple analysis of the Gujarat elections will convince us on this reality. Just see. What we thought about the permanence of a secular India in our minds as well as in the Indian constitution has already crumbled in such a short time. What follows will be in accordance to what we do. Best wishes.
