"Rahul Gandhi was asked about the NCC exams yesterday by a student in
Karnataka. He did what any sane individual would do and said “I’m sorry but
I’m not aware of the format of these exams.” He isn’t expected to anyway.
Rather than bullshit or give a wishy-washy response, he did the right thing
and was honest about it.

Now take Narendra Modi. When a student asked him about climate change, he
said “Climate doesn’t change. It is we who have changed”. Like whaaaaat???

The problem with our country is that we have gotten so used to bullshit
that we now perceive it as “oratory”. There’s a megalomaniac who refuses to
accept that he’s clueless about half the things going on around the country
and insists on spewing random rubbish instead of actually trying to listen
and learn.

This mentality leads to things like idiots on TV talking about “nano GPS
chips” in 2000 rupee notes. This leads to Ministers talking about how
Darwinism doesn’t exist because humans never saw monkeys turn into humans.

I once had an editor who always said “If you aren’t aware of something,
there’s no harm in accepting it. Because, when you do so, you learn
something new and the other person respects your honesty.” He also said
“Don’t ever bullshit about things you aren’t aware of. Not only does it
make you sound like an idiot but it also stops you from learning and that’s
the end of a person’s growth.”

We have been subjected to 4 years of bullshit and ignorance. If only PM
Modi ever said “Ok I am not aware of this but I’d like to be” or admitted
that he doesn’t know jack about things like foreign policy, governance,
love, tolerance, science and many others, our country wouldn’t find itself
in the mess that it currently does.

I’m totally cool with a leader who has the courage to say “I don’t know” as
opposed to a leader who says “I am clueless but I’m gonna bullshit my way
out of the park so that the world can see my stupidity firsthand.”
