Abdul Nasar Maudany's mother is no more. I remember her when I interviewed
Maudany's mother and father for our documentary film called Fabricated.
Both cried in front of the camera. When I asked about her son, Maudany's
mother found it very difficult to speak. After a long time of patience a
few words came out. Along with these couple of words there was also a flow
of tears. My tears also flowed behind the camera. This man called Maudany
has spent two decades in jail. Nine and a half years in Coimbatore jail for
a fabricated case as per the conclusion of the judges and the rest as a
prisoner in Bangalore without any judgement. The only terrorism he
witnessed was the bomb which was thrown at him by the RSS. Well known
jurist VR Krishna Iyer argued for his innocence. Many progressive people
also did that. But he still is not free. His health is also not good. The
political parties which call themselves as `secular' in Kerala should die
in shame. The mainstream media in Kerala which wrote lies on Maudany as per
the agenda of RSS should also die in shame. This is a plea to all
humanitarian individuals groups and secular sections within political
parties and organisations to make sure that no more human being on earth
should be tortured in this manner. Your literacy and education without
common sense, wisdom and human empathy do not impress me at all. Maudany
could not meet his mother for a long time. But he did, before her death.
May that beautiful mother remain as a part of guilt of all Malayalees. The
drops of tears which fell from her eyes next to my feet on the `God's Own
Country' remain as a curse for me for being a Malayalee! Let none of us
escape from this curse in history!
