Tharoor is pitching himself as the candidate for "change".

Right at this very moment, the party is engaged in a massive exercise of
"transformation"--into an active organ for struggle having organic links
with ordinary Indians, via the historic, and unprecedented in independent
India, Bharat Jodo Yatra.

This seems to have completely evaded Tharoor's attention.
His call for "change", therefore, looks quite like a veiled attempt at
throwing a spanner in the works already underway.

Highly smart and suave--unable to speak Hindi though--Tharoor is, all said
done, a sort of newcomer--a valued "guest artist".
Kharge--in contrast--is very much a veteran, a Dalit, a fighter--rugged and
gritty. Can communicate in several languages -- including Hindi and English.

The number of eligible voters is a tad less than ten thousand.
My, rather uninformed, personal guess is that it'd be quite an achievement
for Tharoor if he can garner even one-tenth of that. In fact, quite likely,
it'd be far less.
Let's see.

The media is paying disproportionate attention to this poll--virtually
campaigning for Tharoor--presumably, in a deliberate attempt to divert
popular attention from the gigantic BJY.
In the process, rather paradoxically, attention had to be willy-nilly
focussed on the Congress Party.

<<-For the first time, special QR coded Id cards have been distributed to
the delegates by CEA. Those delegates who have the QR coded ID cards will
be allowed to cast the vote. Congress has enrolled around 6 crore new
members. Congress data department head Pravin Chakravati told India Today
Tv that in the 140-year history of Congress, for the first time QR coded id
cards on the line of the Election Commission of India’s Voter’s ID card.
Without this voting card, the delegates will not be allowed to cast their
votes. The ID card is must to ensure transparency.

-Congress's Central Election Authority chairman Madhusudan Mistry stated
that the ballot paper would have the names of two candidates i.e.
Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor on it. Voters are instructed to put a
'tick' in the box. “Between 10am to 4pm tomorrow, delegates from all states
will vote at their respective polling stations with a 'tick' mark for the
candidate they support. Arrangements have been made for smooth polling,”
Madhusudan Mistry told news agency ANI.
...
The campaign ran by Tharoor is titled “ThinkTomorrowThinkTharoor”. Whereas
the official theme of Kharge’s campaign is #KarykartaKharge.

Kharge is considered the firm favourite for his perceived proximity to the
Gandhis and backing by senior leaders, even as Tharoor has pitched himself
as the candidate of change while Kharge is the candidate of 'continuity'.
Both leaders have campaigned extensively and made fervent appeals to woo
delegates.

A day ahead of the Congress presidential polls, Shashi Tharoor said, "Our
party has been going through difficulties over past few yrs. A very famous
and experienced leader left us recently, so I felt that something isn't
right... I believe that workers need to be listened to; this poll is a
perfect opportunity.">>
