This announcement has been made after the poll process in Haryana and J&K
having already been set in motion (on August 16): <

Quite evidently, with an eye on the Haryana poll, in particular.

Is that Ok!?
*Is it not a very very serious aberration???*

Ordinarily, the ECI is duty bound to intervene on its own.
But these are no ordinary times.

The main opposition party, the INC, had apparently chosen not to flag it: <

Conceivably, for electoral considerations.

But, what about others???
Especially the civil society groups?
