Running doc_check I see the following macros documented but not found in
the TeX code:

I don't have time myself at the moment, but I'd like to verify that the
first group have been well and truly removed from the code, and if so
remove their documentation entries. For the second, I'd like to see
documentation entries added. Once that's done, I think we're ready for
release (seeing as no one's complained about the release candidate).
