I am very impressed with what I have seen on the webpages of the Gregorio project. I am working on typesetting chants from the Dominican Graduale and Antiphonarium. As you may have noticed, the Dominican notation makes use of quarter-bars at various heights on the staff, based on the height of the note that the bar follows ( and lengthens, in our mode of interpreting the notation). Examples of this can be seen on the http://download.gna.org/gregorio/pdf/Graduel_Dominicains_(1928).pdf, for instance in the Responsorium "Universi" on page 2 of that document, where a quarter bar appears after "fudentur" in the second line and another appears in the middle of the long neume on "Domine" in the third line, but at a different height.
Is it possible to insert barlines of this sort with Gregorio? Also, I have one suggestion of a possible feature that could be very useful if it were possible to accomplish. If at the beginning of a chant transcription one could create a set of variables, such as V1 = chant string V2 = different chant string V3 = etc. This would allow one to simplify the transcription of repetitive pieces, such as hymns, which have the same music repeated with various texts. This way, one could type several verses of the hymn with references to the variables rather than retyping them each time. For instance, Æ(V1)ter(V2)na(V3) Chri(V4)sti(V5) mú(V6)ne(V7)ra,(V8) Apostolorum glóriam, Laudes ferentes debitas, Lætis canámus mentibus. 2. Ec(V1)cle(V2)si(V3)á(V4)rum(V5) prín(V6)ci(V7)pes,(V8) Belli triumphales duces, Cælestis aulæ mílites, Et vera mundi lúmina. If this could be implemented, it would allow one to quickly set one text to various melodies (which I need to do for my Antiphonarium project) without retyping the melody each time. I think of it because of my very slight experience with JavaScript, although I do not know enough about programming and TeX to know if it would be possible to implement in this context.
