If all you need is to change the size, some LaTeX like this should be ok: \def\greinitialformat#1{% {\fontsize{50}{50}\selectfont #1}% whatever font size you need } I think the main-lamed/lualatex files used with the Populus Sion example in the Gregorio download also show an example of this.
