Dear Gregorio Developers,
I am currently editing a collection of simple English propers for the
Catholic Mass using Gregorio. The language, of course is English, and
I have over 500 antiphons that are being engraved in Gregorio to be
put in print this spring.
What I have found is that the note spacing conventions for Latin
chant, that is, note spacing over the vowel, is not aesthetically
preferable for chant settings that set English texts. Perhaps there
is a more even dispersion of vowels and consonances in Latin which
makes the note distribution more even, I'm not quite sure.
In order to produce satisfactory results in engraving chants in
English I have used {brackets} to force note centering to be on the
word or syllable and not on the vowel. Here is an example of a score

MY QUESTION TO YOU: Can I COMMISSION someone to write a feature in
Gregorio that centers notes to the syllable, or to the word, perhaps
through a command in the GABC header?
I myself have been commissioned for this collection of English chants
and I am very happy to share the wealth with the Gregorio developers
who have produced the best method available for chant engraving. I am
most grateful for this software platform and will likely make a
donation either way because of the importance of Gregorio in the work
that I'm doing.
Please let me know, anyone, if this is a feature that could be added
to the platform in the foreseeable future. Even perhaps in the coming
weeks... I can pay a fair amount for the creation and stabilization
of this feature.
