I have noticed that it is better to not include things such as verse numbers
or Ps. markers before double bar line notations, such as in the following
example taken from the "details" page of the website (
http://home.gna.org/gregorio/gabc/details), because when you do this it can
happen that the Ps. or verse number can become detached from the verse it is
indicating.
<i>Ps.</i>(::) Qui(ehg)
I've found that gregorio behaves better when you use the following:
(::) <i>Ps.</i> Qui(ehg)
So long as there is no vowel in the pre-word material, this seems to work
better, in that it places the marking underneath the previous double bar if
possible or at the start of a new line if necessary.
The only problems are when you have a marking that contains a vowel (in
which case you just specify the centering with {} [e.g. *<i>Paschale</i> **
Qu{i}(ehg)*] or when you are in *centering-scheme: english*; mode, in which
case you can simply put the brackets around the whole word [e.g. 2*.
{Let}(gf)*] -- otherwise the english centering mode will make the notes
appear centered on the entire text of both the number and the word.
Would it be worth changing the website example?
