Dear Gregorio Community,

I am a new user to the world of Gregorio, and I am trying to get it set up in
TeXShop (Mac OSX). I seem to be having some very basic difficulties, but after
an hour or two of muddling around trying to fix the problem, I gave up and
joined the mailing list. I understand the basic process of writing a gacb
file. I am trying to do a very simple example:

name: Populus Sion;
%%
Po(eh/hi)pu(h)lus(h) Si(hi)on(hgh)

However, when I try to typeset it (example.gabc) using gregorio, the program
will not let me click the button. The only way to enable the button seems to
be to change the file to example.gacb.tex or example.tex. But then, when I
typeset it, the file is replaced with the following:

% File generated by gregorio 2.0
\begingregorioscore%
\grebeginnotes %
\gresetinitialclef{?}{0}{a}%
\endgregorioscore %
\endinput %

I should also note that the following error message pops up when I try to
typeset:

error: syntax error
error: unable to find the first letter of the score
error: can't determine step and line of the key
produced example.gabc.tex

My understanding of this process is that the example.gacb file needs typeset
using gregorio in order to generate a file example.tex, which then needs
typeset through LuaLaTex, finally producing a usable pdf. Am I
misunderstanding this?

Any help is appreciated.

Yours,
