Yes, 2011 from tug.org. And yes, I am stumped too. I can see how there might be an issue between OSes, but not when the hw & sw are identical for all practical purposes.
I have to wonder if I have installed something from MacPorts that somehow removed the issue. What it could be, I have no idea, for all tex stuff is from tug.
