Hi all,
I've been using Windows 7 and TexLive 2012 with the pre-compiled Gregorio (http://download.gna.org/gregorio/releases/2.0/gregorio-setup.exe) for some time now. I have all the TexWorks bug-a-boos worked out. I have a pretty good system going, and as much as I value the convenience and simplicity of some of the Gregorio interfaces around on the web, I like the level of detail with which I've been able to operate with my own setup. But I'd like to start using the latest SVN version - particularly to take advantage of the "centering-scheme" feature. I have some PC programming background from long ago - but really got any Linux experience. so I'm no stranger to the world of programming and compiling, but it's been a while and this particular landscape is completely foreign to me. So, I installed Cygwin (with all the supplementary packages shown to be required http://home.gna.org/gregorio/installation-windows-advanced, as well as 'subversion'). I followed the instructions for getting the svn version and compiling it (http://home.gna.org/gregorio/installation-linux). I found the gregorio.exe it put out in the C:\cygwin\bin directory and copied it (along with all the DLLs it screamed for) into my C:\texlive\2012\bin\win32 directory - replacing the gregorio.exe from the precompiled version I had been using. At a command prompt this gregorio.exe will run enough to give the parameter descriptions, but it fails when running on GABC files - and obviously it fails with TexWorks as well. So a couple of questions/comments. What am I doing wrong? Is there something simple I'm missing? Also, I know that those working on this do it out of the goodness of their hearts, but it's been two years since a pre-compiled PC version of Gregorio was put up. is it really necessary to make non-Linux people go through the compiling process to get access to the latest features/fixes? Can't we just keep a compiled version of the latest SVN available somewhere for easy download? Thanks for any help! Rich Skirpan
